The one thing you must do if you want to hit a draw

If your clubface is open at the top and you release the club on the downswing, you will hit a straight shot. If your clubface is open at the top and you swing down naturally, you will hit a slice. If your clubface is open at the top and you maintain a clear picture of your target in your minds eye to the exclusion of all other thoughts, you will hit a beautiful hard cut next to the pin. This is what it means to eliminate the left side of the course. If the clubface is closed at the top, then you can hit a draw or a fade; if the clubface is open at the top, then you cannot hit the ball left.

If having an open face at the top eliminates the left side of the course, then does having a closed clubface eliminate the right side of the course? That makes sense, but that’s not how it works. It must have something to do with anatomy, the way we stand to the side of the ball. I’m not sure. But if you have a shut face at the top, then you will hit both pushes and hooks. If you have an open face, then you will hit fades and slices; you won’t hit the ball left, except once in a blue moon. Having a closed face at the top won’t eliminate the right side of the course, but it is a necessary thing to do if you want to hit a draw. Articles about curing a slice never mention this.
